- How yoga can improve vagal tone and help us cope with the stressors in our life.
- Good vagal tone improves our resiliency and ability to cope with the ups and downs of life. Anxiety and Depression are symptoms of low vagal tone.Specific elements within the Yoga practice have been shown to directly influence the vagus nerve and improve heart rate variability and thus the bodies ability to regulate itself.
- This practice will focus on the ways in which we can directly influence the vagus nerve - breath work, chanting/singing, movement and interoception. The more kinaesthetic awareness we have, the easier we can detect subtle shifts within the body that could be leading towards anxiety or low mood.
- When we have these early detection signs we can utilise things like the breath to calm and quiet the body and the mind. This fascial flow will tap into the hidden areas of the body and we will finish in meditation noticing all of the sensations and deepening our interoception.
